The Holy Trinity music program is multi-faceted, designed to give a broad range of repertoire and skills to children at age-appropriate levels. It includes classroom-based learning and extra-curricular activities.

  1. Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten students are introduced, through both listening and participation, to a wide variety of folk, classical, contemporary and multi-cultural music both secular and religious.
  2. The 1st-3rd grade students expand their vocal skills and general music knowledge, while developing a liturgy-based repertoire drawn from the weekday Masses where the school ministry students attend, as well as the parish’s Sunday and seasonal Masses.
  3. The 4th- 8th grade students build on their previous experiences and are introduced to harmony singing, as well as creative song writing, basic music theory and history, and analysis of contemporary music both musically and lyrically.

Students from 2nd through 8th grades take turns leading the singing at the weekday Masses where the school ministry students attend.

Our parish extra-curricular music classes are the following:

Youth Band

A contemporary rock band designated to lead the worship at the Sunday 5:30 pm parish Mass open to 8th grade only. They rehearse with the High School members on Tuesday evenings.

Children's Choir

Children's Choir is open to good readers from Grades 2 – 8 (eighth graders have the option of being in the Sunday Evening Youth band and/or the children's choir). The choir leads a monthly 11am Sunday Mass and other special liturgies and rehearse on Mondays from 3:05 – 4:05pm. They attend the Diocesan Choral Festival each year where they are judged on their professionalism and musicality.

Honor Choir

The Honor Choir is comprised of qualified students from sixth to eighth grades and concentrates on advancing note reading and preparation for high school music programs.

Kevin Mooney, our multi-talented and experienced parish percussionist teaches the percussion class. Our violin teacher, David Thorp has been active in the Auburn, North State and Stockton Symphonies. He has a Master of Viola Performance degree from the Manhattan School of Music in NYC, and has performed in orchestras throughout the country.

Children are permitted to be in both the choir and an instrumental program if there is room in the instrumental program.
