Kindergarten
Religion
By the end of kindergarten, students will have an age-appropriate understanding of the following concepts:
- The world is a gift from God
- God loves us
- We are friends of Jesus
- We live as friends of Jesus
- We celebrate special days and feast days of the saints
Kindergarten students will begin learning and frequently pray the following:
- The Sign of the Cross
- The Our Father
- The Hail Mary
- Prayer to the Guardian Angel
- Blessing with Holy Water
- Grace Before Meals
- Simple Mass responses
Kindergarten students will celebrate the Liturgical Year in class and with the entire parish community.
Religion Enrichment Activities:

Language Arts
Reading:
Students demonstrate reading readiness by knowing letters, words and sounds. They apply this knowledge to read leveled reading books. The following skills will be developed, but not limited to:
- Phonemic awareness
- Decoding and word recognition of CVC words and high frequency words
- Reading Comprehension strategies
- Vocabulary and Concept Development
- Concepts of print
Writing:
- Use CVC words, high frequency sight words and phonetically spelled words to write
- Write by moving left to write and from top to bottom
- Write upper and lower case letters independently using proper letter formation
- Write numbers 0-20 attending to form and proper spacing
- Early Reader Step up to Writing strategies
- Participate in leveled Guided Reading Groups
Listening and Speaking:
- Recognize and use clear and coherent sentences when speaking
- Understand and follow one and two step directions
- Listen attentively
Math
